40th Anniversary of Israel's 6-Day War

Greetings,

This week marks the 40th anniversary of the 1967 Arab-Israli War, a six-day conflict that led to Israel's stunning victory over three Arab armies (Egypt, Jordan, and Syria). (Read Article from voanews.com)

So what is the significance?

Luke 21:29-33 Then He spoke to them a parable: "Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. (30) "When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near. (31) "So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. (32) "Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place. (33) "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. (emphasis mine)

Jesus is speaking about the signs of the End times with his disciples, giving them the advance notice that the generation alive when these events come to pass would be the generation that would be alive when Jesus returned. Some have postulated that either the date of Israel's rebirth (May 14, 1948) or the date that Israel regained East Jerusalem (June 25, 1967- though most commonly celebrated is June 5, 1967 the start of the 6-Day Arab Israeli war), would start the timer for the last generation that Jesus spoke of.

There is much debate about a Biblical generation. The simple answer is that there is no one definition of generation. It could be 20 years or 100. But the impact is really the same, Jesus predicted the day when He would return again. Time is running out - are you ready to meet Him? I pray you are!
